The 2024 Next Challenge for Media & Journalism is offering $150,000 in grants available to both nonprofit and for-profit startups transforming local news, building technology to power newsrooms, and pioneering new ways of distributing content around the globe. Deadline is Mar 25.

A collective of organizations including Journalismfund Europe, Transitions and the Constructive Institute have teamed up to fund a solutions journalism-focused cohort. Open to small European media news outlets, especially serving underrepresented groups. Apply by Apr 4, 2024.

This award recognizes journalism that approaches Asian American and Pacific Islander issues in a fresh and innovative way with a $5,000 cash prize and conference travel stipend. Must be a member of the Asian American Journalists Association or join prior to nomination. Deadline is Jan 22, 2024.

Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications invites applications until Jan 26, 2024 for this $4,000 award recognizing single stories or series work shedding light on the causes, consequences and remedies of problems in American society.

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists invites applications from US and Puerto Rican graduate and undergraduate students who plan to work in English and/or Spanish-language journalism. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $5,000. Deadline to apply is Feb 16, 2024.

Internews' Earth Journalism Network is offering mentoring and story grants of up to US$1,400 to Indigenous journalists from any country to support the production of in-depth environmental stories on climate justice, biodiversity, sustainable ecosystems, Indigenous sovereignty and leadership, and more.
