Meet SEJ Board Member Laura Paskus! Laura has covered environment issues in the U.S. Southwest since 2002, and currently works as the environment reporter for the New Mexico Public Broadcast Station (NMPBS), where she covers climate change, water, energy and the military's contamination of groundwater with PFAS. In 2020, UNM Press published her book, "At the Precipice: New Mexico's Changing Climate."
Laura has been an SEJ member since 2003 and recommends joining SEJ "for a number of reasons, including that we need you. We need *your* voice and expertise and experiences to make journalism stronger. Our audiences are diverse and our membership should be, too."
Stay tuned next month when we'll be sending out a call for candidates for SEJ's Board of Directors. Regarding board service, Laura said, "As we're all facing so many challenges and changes in our industry and lives, this is a great time for new candidates to think about running for the board. For me, board service has been about working to strengthen our organization, building relationships and listening to more voices — and also, learning new skills."
