Meet SEJ member Greg M. Schwartz! He specializes in covering the clash between science and politics that lies at the heart of nearly every environmental justice issue, with a specific focus on the EPA Superfund program. His series "2020 Hindsight Brings Corrupted Radiation Testing Into Focus at the EPA" — a sequel to the 2006 "Buried Secrets" story that launched his investigative reporting career with the Cleveland Free Times — connects the Tetra Tech "eco-fraud" scandal at Hunters Point in San Francisco back to an EPA cover-up at the Industrial Excess Landfill in Ohio, with Tetra Tech subsidiaries in the middle of suspicious radiation sampling and testing controversies at both sites.
Greg is a new member of SEJ this year and said, "It's good to know that there is still an organization that supports environmental journalism, since there isn't much of a market for such reporting these days."
