The massive trove of diplomatic cables disclosed by Wikileaks disclosed one of the Obama administration's darkest environmental secrets — that the U.S. held secret diplomatic talks on climate change during the run-up to the December 2009 Copenhagen meeting.
The talks, of course, had been rumored and hinted at, but few journalistic accounts did much more than suggest they might be taking place. Now leaked cables confirm what the U.S. government would not talk publicly about, and the information sheds crucial light on how the interests of American taxpayers and air-breathers are being represented abroad.
