EPA, charged with bending to White House political pressure in its Dec. 19, 2007, decision to prohibit states from regulating greenhouse emissions, has said it will bare all to Congressional watchdogs. Henry Waxman (D-CA), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has vowed to investigate EPA's decision, which affects his state more than most. He wrote EPA Administrator Steve Johnson Dec. 20 demanding all documents related to the decision, especially communications between EPA and the White House. The AP's H. Josef Hebert reported Dec. 27 that EPA had signaled that it would actually comply with the Congressional document request.
