"Flint residents will have a measure of justice, more than six years after the city's drinking water was contaminated with toxic lead, thanks to two bipartisan bills signed Wednesday.
The Flint Settlement Trust Fund was created within the state Treasury Department Wednesday with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's signing of bipartisan Senate Bills 1251 and 1252. Sponsored by Sens. Jim Stamas, R-Midland, and Jim Ananich, D-Flint, the bills allot $641.2 million in funding settlements in civil Flint water cases.
Whitmer said the bills are an example of both parties working together to protect Michiganders and are steps toward helping the people of Flint heal."
