"The Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant went offline permanently Monday as part of the decommissioning process.
The shutdown process for the state’s sole nuclear plant was completed at 12:12 p.m. Monday, and the plant stopped sending power to the grid, news station WCAX reported, citing Entergy Corp. officials.
Workers took the plant offline by remotely inserting boron control rods into each of the reactor’s fuel assemblies and deactivating the fission reaction, VTDigger.org reported.
Entergy decided last year to decommission Vermont’s largest source of power, citing economics."
