"Four days into the new year, two endangered Florida panthers have been found dead, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
According to the FWC’s Panther Pulse site, the first panther death was reported on Jan. 2, a 3-year-old female hit by a vehicle in Lee County. The second was a 2-year-old female, also hit by a vehicle, in Collier County.
This comes on top of a year during which FWC recorded 22 panther deaths, while also tracking 11 births from four litters."
