"DENVER -- Four cities along [Colorado's] Front Range will decide Tuesday whether to halt new oil and gas development when voters cast their ballots on a series of local initiatives."
"While the measures differ -- a proposal in Lafayette would permanently ban all new drilling inside city limits, while measures in Boulder, Broomfield and Fort Collins would enact or extend temporary moratoriums -- the proposals all seek to prevent hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.
'There's kind of a community rebellion on the Front Range,' said East Boulder County United member Merrily Mazza, who worked to put the Lafayette initiative on the ballot and is also campaigning for a seat on the Lafayette City Council. 'People are saying no to this in residential communities.'"
