"Clean energy research and the interim storage of nuclear waste are big winners in the Senate's $48.9 billion fiscal 2020 Energy-Water spending bill released this morning [Thursday].
The legislation — a $4.2 billion increase compared with fiscal 2019 enacted levels and $2.5 billion more than the House's $46.4 billion proposal — cleared the Senate Appropriations panel.
Passed following a unanimous roll call vote, the legislation now heads to the Senate floor, where the chamber could begin consideration of the measure as soon as next week.
The Energy-Water bill funds the Department of Energy, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Interior Department's Bureau of Reclamation."
